Utopia

/juːˈtəʊpɪə/

noun

an imagined place or state of things in which everything is perfect.

I wandered through the secret garden

everything

was

and is

possible.

(In your arms

I thought;

everything was

and is

possible.)

But dreams have a way

of ending

when

you

wake

up.

Yet

 yet.

Let me hunger

 for

  what if?

Let us hunger for

what might be?

Let us dream for

things

we cannot

       see.

the place

where the

Pacific and Atlantic Ocean

meet

mingle

become one

slow slow

indecipherable to the likes of you and me

But there they

greet

and

collide

and somehow without a fight

become one.

so

won’t you

tuck a little corner

of maybe

into your day?

Sprinkle a little

rose water

into your faith

for humanity

( I know you couldn’t mind

happily ever after).

Aren’t you tired

of the eventual evantualities

 the crushing realities

the naysayers and doomsday reality TV?

Why can’t we

rest a little

beloved.

and dream?

If we

imperfect and crooked

jagged and crooked

never to be set straight

could

Love and

be loved?

Surely utopia

cannot be so

far

far

far

Away.

It is not vain to dream

It is not impossible to dream

It is not stupid to dream

It is vain and impossible and stupid

not to.

My utopia is a testament to love, an ode to the pursuit of freedom, and an edifice free from the stain of colonial specters like hegemony, hierarchies, and violence.
